Endoscopy is performed in the minor operating
theatre for a variety of indications, including
upper and lower gastrointestinal bleeding, common
bile duct obstruction, and peptic ulcer disease.
Procedures performed include bronchoscopy, esophagogastroduodenoscopy
(EGD), endoscopic variceal banding and sclerotherapy,
esophageal stenting for inoperable tumors, esophageal
dilation, endoscopic retrograde colangiopancreatography
(ERCP), and colonoscopy.

Patients suffering from malignancy receive a full spectrum
of care at Lok Hospital, including diagnostic investigations
and medical and surgical treatments. Every day numerous
inpatients receive chemotherapy under the direction of
Dr. Boman Dhabhar, a medical oncologist who sees approximately
one hundred outpatients each week.

| Cardiology |
Like many countries, numerous patients are seen and admitted
for heart-related complaints. Dr. Subash Dey, Dr Shanti
Sagar Vaidya eminent Cardiologists visit and consult on
patients in the hospital daily. They also perform echocardiography
regularly and places temporary or permanent pacemakers
when needed. Because cardiac catheterization facilities
are not available, acute myocardial infractions are often
treated with thrombolysis and medical management.

| Pulmonology |
Dr. Ravi Rupvate, a pulmonologist, regularly visits Lok
Hospital where he consults on admitted patients and sees
patients in the OPD. Problems range from common conditions
of asthma and pneumonia to pulmonary tuberculosis and
cancer. Several cases of acute respiratory failure due
to malaria (P. vivax) have also been admitted to the ICU.
In the endoscopy suite, bronchoscopy is also performed
when needed.

the care of Dr. R. Gunjotikar, and Dr Dodeja the nephrologists.
